"By trade, I am an engineer. At heart, I am a photographer. One shapes with purpose; the other embraces the untamed."

Where Precision Meets the Wilderness

I grew up on a farm in Southeast Michigan—where life was raw, hands-on, and deeply connected to the land. My childhood was shaped by raising animals, tending crops, and wandering the outdoors with my Boy Scout troop. I gained an early appreciation for nature's quiet power: what it can provide for us, and what it can demand from us without proper respect.

My career path led me to Computer Science and Engineering, building software and complex systems. But my spirit remained bound to the outdoors. To me, engineering and photography are two sides of the same coin: one requires calculation, discipline, and intentional design; the other requires patience, adaptability, and the humility to let nature lead.

Chasing Horizon Lines

I've always believed in working with my hands and testing my own limits. In 2009, after spending a summer rebuilding a motorcycle from the frame up, I packed a bag and rode across the country to Yellowstone and Rocky Mountain National Park. Standing amidst those towering peaks, the vastness of the West gripped me completely.

Whether navigating a remote trail in Patagonia, flying above the Rockies as a private pilot, or backcountry camping with my family, adventure has become my way of staying grounded. In 2020, my family and I made the leap to relocate to the Colorado mountains—where bears, foxes, and wild weather are simply part of the everyday view from the window.

I am currently section-hiking the 500-mile Colorado Trail at 12,000 feet. As I write the accompanying book, each chapter is voiced over trail footage—serving as both a visual proofread and a multi-year video journal documenting life on the trail.
